Top 5 Tuesday: Tips to Staying Hydrated

With the summer heat (it’s not officially summer till the 22nd I think?), all of us runners need to pay special attention to staying hydrated. The more you sweat, the more you need to rehydrate after your run. We need to drink 64oz a day of water, and on a running day, it is even more. In the month of June, I have been participating in this 30 Day Water Challenge on Facebook, hosted by one of my Facebook friends. Some benefits of drinking water includes improving your physical performance on your runs, rising your energy levels, and preventing nasty dehydration headaches. Along the way through this journey, I have learned quite a few tricks to chug more water I thought I would share.

Top 5 Tips to Staying Hydrated:

  1. Set an alarm every hour to drink a cup of water
  2. Use a straw
  3. Buy a 64oz water bottle, and drink it every day
  4. Add some fruit or Nuun to your water
  5. For every non-water beverage, drink two cups of water

Also, don’t forget to bring water on your runs to stay safe and hydrated!
